Spray Application
Directly before applying product, add TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101 to product slowly and carefully to avoid spillage. Mix into product thoroughly until desired viscosity is reached.
- It is recommended to start with the least amount of Spray Thinner 101 and add a little bit more, as required, until the desired spray application is achieved.
- Most spray applications will require 10-20% thinning for optimal viscosity, atomization, and finish, but actual percentages will vary based upon the ambient conditions, product being sprayed, and spray equipment.
- Over-thinning may result in reduced gloss, improper atomization, sagging, dripping, undesirably extended drying times, or an overall poor coating performance.
Cold Weather Brushing and Rolling Applications
TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101 provides excellent flow properties when used as a proprietary cold weather brushing or rolling thinner for the associated TotalBoat paints, primers, and varnishes.
- Most cold weather brushing and rolling applications can achieve the desired flow and wet-edge properties by adding 5-10% Spray Thinner 101 before applying when ambient conditions are below 60°F.
- Start by thinning a very small amount to see if it achieves the desired flow characteristics, and add more, as needed.
- Thinner may need to be added throughout the application because the spray thinner will evaporate while in the paint pot or paint tray.
- Do not over-thin any TotalBoat products. Over-thinning may result in reduced gloss, sagging, dripping, undesirably extended drying times, or an overall poor coating performance.
Tool and Equipment Cleanup
TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101 works as a product cleaner or tool/equipment cleaner when used with any of the compatible TotalBoat products.
Surface Preparation Solvent Wipe
TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101 can also function as a surface preparation solvent wipe prior to applying the compatible TotalBoat products.
- Only use this product as a solvent wipe when the substrate is compatible, or cured sufficiently to be in contact with this product.
- Only use clean, lint-free cotton rags for solvent wipe applications.
