TotalBoat FixWood Epoxy Putty is a durable, versatile wood repair compound designed for rebuilding, filling, and restoring damaged or rotted wood. Mixed in a simple 1:1 ratio, FixWood is easy to mold by hand or tool, stays where you put it, and cures to a solid, sandable surface that accepts fasteners, stain, paint, or primer.
Surface Preparation
Proper surface prep ensures long-lasting repairs.
- Remove dust, dirt, grease, oil, and contaminants.
- For punky or soft, rotted wood, first treat with TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy.
- Sand repair area using 60–120 grit sandpaper.
- Remove all sanding residue before application.
- Surface must be clean, dry, and solid.
Mixing & Handling
- Wear disposable nitrile or latex gloves.
- Mix 1 part Part A (Resin) with 1 part Part B (Hardener) by volume.
- Mix by hand until the putty reaches a uniform tan color.
- Do not alter the mix ratio; mix only what you can use in 20 minutes.
- Mixed material appears as a tan, moldable putty.
Application
- Apply and shape by hand or with tools.
- Press firmly into voids to eliminate trapped air.
- Overfill slightly so the repair can be sanded smooth after curing.
- Tack free in approximately 2 hours at 72°F.
- Sandable in less than 6 hours at 72°F.
- Cures faster in warmer temperatures and slower in cooler temperatures.
