Due to the potential for delamination, it's not a good idea to apply epoxy to a rusty metal surface. Epoxy forms a strong, permanent bond to shiny, bare, shiny metal that's been prepared properly, with all rust and other contaminants removed.
Can I apply TotalBoat epoxy to rusted metal?

For a project where you want to preserve the rusted appearance, not continue to weather, and have some abrasion resistance. What do you recommend?
