All stains are not created equally, so we recommend making a small test sample to determine if the TotalBoat epoxy you've chose will adhere properly to the stain you are using. When you perform the test, start with a dry, clean surface and follow the manufacturer's application instructions on the stain label. Before applying TotalBoat epoxy over the stain, make sure the stained surface is completely dry. If needed, use a dry, clean lint-free rag to wipe away any excess stain sitting on the surface, and make sure any solvent on the surface has evaporated before applying epoxy.
