For epoxy resin cleanup - Use denatured alcohol, acetone or lacquer thinner to clean up spilled epoxy resin. You can also try isopropyl alcohol (a high % will work best) or vinegar. If using a solvent, be sure the area is well ventilated and be sure to follow all safety precautions on the container label. When you're finished cleaning, use fresh water to rinse the area thoroughly.
For epoxy hardener cleanup - Since hardener is more hazardous than epoxy resin, first try to use soapy warm water for cleanup. You can also try vinegar or isopropyl alcohol before reaching for the solvents. If you have to use a solvent, denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner will work. When you're done cleaning, use fresh water to rinse the area thoroughly.
For mixed epoxy (epoxy resin & hardener combined) cleanup - Use denatured alchohol, acetone, or lacquer thinner. Rinse the area thoroughly with fresh water when you're done cleaning.
IMPORTANT
- Wear proper personal protection when you're cleaning up epoxy resin, hardener, or mixed epoxy.
- To prevent combustion: Place rags used for clean up on the top of an empty trash container, in a safe place where the rags can dry with good ventilation, and away from flammable sources. Rags must be completely dry before disposing.
