For TotalBoat TotalBuff rubbing compound and TotalBoat TotalShine finishing compound, use a variable speed buffer at an RPM range of 500-1000 rpm for the slowest speed, and 3000-4000 rpm for the fastest speed. It's recommended to start at a slower RPM and apply greater pressure to spread the material and let it work. For some buffers, the slowest speed may work fine, but it may take some adjustment to find the speed that works best for your application.
Typically, the fastest speed on the buffer can be used with very light pressure to finish buffing a section before moving on to the next section.
