TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy (regular and coldweather formulas) has a coverage rate (yield) that depends on how porous the surface is and how thick the application is.
The table below shows approximate minimum and maximum reasonable coverage rates for each kit size (that is, both components mixed together). Actual results may vary from these values. Note that thinning Penetrating Epoxy with solvents such as denatured acohol or acetone will not extend the coverage or change these values.
UNIT OF MEASURE | MINIMUM REASONABLE COVERAGE RATE* | MAXIMUM REASONABLE COVERAGE RATE* |
Pint Kit (pint resin, 1/2 pint hardener) | 20 square feet | 40 square feet |
Quart Kit (quart resin, pint hardener) | 40 square feet | 80 square feet |
Half-Gallon Kit (half-gallon resin, quart hardener) | 80 square feet | 160 square feet |
Gallon Kit (gallon resin, half-gallon hardener) | 160 square feet | 320 square feet |
*These values do not account for wasted material. Typically, 10-20% of the material can be considered wasted material due to being trapped in rollers or paint brushes, unrecoverable material remaining in bottles & mixing cups, or accidental drips. The amount of wasted material will be different for each application.
