As long as TotalBoat TotalProtect Epoxy Barrier Coat Primer is within the recoat window of 6 hours to 60 days, sanding is not required. Outside of this window, TotalProtect must be cleaned, sanded with 80-grit sandpaper, all sanding residue removed, and cleaned with a rag wetted with TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep before applying any products.

After a few days, if there is any concern that contamination may be present on the surface, such as residue from rain, dew, pollen, or other sources, sanding is still not required. However, it may be helpful to wipe the surface clean with TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep before applying another coat.
