TotalBoat Lust Rapid Recoat Marine Spar Varnish is available in gloss and matte. Typically, gloss coats are used to build the finish, and matte is used for the final 1-2 coats. Gloss and matte varnish can also be mixed together. For example, mixing one part gloss with one part matte should produce a semigloss finish. The semigloss varnish should only be used for the final 1-2 coats, while gloss varnish is used for the build coats.
