Sanding and solvent wipes are not required between coats of TotalBoat Gleam Marine Spar Varnish for up to 48 hours after the previous coat. This is a unique advantage of the product.
After allowing Gleam to dry for a minimum of 24 hours, you can sand with 220- or 320-grit sandpaper. Do not use solvents until Gleam has dried for a minimum of 48 hours. Until then, use a clean, dry rag to remove sanding residue.
After 48 hours under normal curing conditions, denatured alcohol, TotalBoat Brushing Thinner 100, TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101, or TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep can be used to dampen a cotton rag and clean the sanded surface. Do not soak the sanded varnish. The rag should be damp, not saturated with solvent, when wiping the surface.
