For spray applications, TotalBoat Halcyon Water-Based Marine Varnish can be thinned with water up to 20%. Most spray applications only require a 5 to 10% reduction, and some spray guns may not require thinning at all. Use the minimum amount of water necessary to achieve a high-gloss finish, proper wet film thickness without dripping or sagging, and the fastest dry times. The actual amount of thinning will depend on the equipment and environmental conditions.
When spraying, start with a thin tack coat, wait 15 to 30 seconds, and then apply a full coat. Halcyon should be applied slightly heavier than most similar products to achieve a higher-gloss finish.
