TotalBoat Halcyon Water-Based Marine Varnish can be buffed. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 5 to 7 days, then wet sand with 400-grit, 600-grit, and 1000-grit sandpaper. Polish with TotalBoat TotalBuff Rubbing Compound using a rotary buffer and wool pad, then finish with TotalBoat TotalShine Finishing Compound.

However, one-part coatings are more challenging to buff than two-part coatings. Single-part products like Halcyon are more likely to develop streaks and swirls from excessive heat during the buffing process, so use extreme care if this is attempted.
