Underwater metal parts such as outdrives, shafts, props, running gear, and trim tabs need a metal-free antifouling paint because copper-based bottom paint causes galvanic action that corrodes metal. Copper-free TotalBoat bottom paints for underwater metals include TotalBoat Krypton, TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF, TotalBoat Outdrive AF paint, and TotalBoat Outdrive AF aerosol spray.

Before applying bottom paint, for all metals except aluminum, we recommend priming with TotalBoat TotalProtect Epoxy Barrier Coat Primer; for aluminum, prime with TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat.

WARNING! Underwater zincs or sacrificial anodes prevent galvanic corrosion. Do not coat them with primer or copper-free paint.
