You don't have to use a brush to tip if you apply TotalBoat Wet Edge topside paint very carefully, with a high-quality roller cover, and thin the paint with TotalBoat Special Brushing Thinner 100 for proper flow, self-leveling, and wet-edge properties.
The reason tipping is advantageous is because following the roller application immediately with a brush helps pop any bubbles in the wet paint, evens out the paint thickness, reduces any stipple from the roller cover, and reduces overlapping.
A small, high-quality roller cover such as an Arroworthy Might Mini foam roller provides more control, and less wasted paint, when the paint is not being tipped.
