TotalBoat Thixo epoxy adhesive is ideal for high-strength bonding on Ipe wood, as are Thixo Wood, Thixo Flex, Thixo Fast Cure, and Thixo Pro.

For structural applications, or applications with dynamic stresses or high loads, we recommend that you also use mechanical fasteners.

For the best bonding results, first sand the joints to be bonded with coarse sandpaper (40-grit to 80-grit), then remove sanding residue and contaminants by wiping the surface with a clean cotton rag dampened with acetone. Do not use synthetic rags to wipe the surface because they may leave a residue that can weaken the bond.

After solvent wiping, let the acetone evaporate completely, before applying Thixo. When clamping the glued pieces together, be careful not to clamp too tightly or all the epoxy will be squeezed out of the joint.
