It is not recommended to apply TotalBoat Gelcoat directly to wood. Wood expands and contracts as temperatures change, which can cause the gelcoat to crack.

Before applying gelcoat, apply fiberglass cloth to the wood using polyester laminating resin or vinyl ester resin.
