Yes, TotalBoat TotalProtect Epoxy Barrier Coat Primer can be applied over gelcoat.

The surface must be properly dewaxed, and any amine blush must be removed. Dewax the surface using the two-rag method:

1. Wipe the surface with a clean, lint-free cotton rag dampened with TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep.
2. Immediately follow with a clean, dry cotton rag to remove contaminants remaining on the surface.
3. Repeat the two-rag method 2–3 times to ensure that all wax and potential contaminants have been removed.

Sand the gelcoat thoroughly with 80-grit sandpaper. Remove all sanding residue, then wipe the surface again with a clean, lint-free cotton rag dampened with TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep. Follow immediately with a clean, dry rag. The entire surface to be barrier coated should have a uniform, dull, frosty finish.

Inadequate sanding or failure to remove wax and other surface contaminants will eventually result in bond failure. Ensure that the surface is completely dry before applying TotalProtect. Continue applying TotalProtect according to the application and recoat instructions until the required dry film thickness has been achieved.
