If the lacquer coating has cured completely, you can apply a marine spar varnish over it. Lacquer is usually through cured in about 48-72 hours, but we recommend you allow a minimum of seven days to cure, under proper temperature and humidityconditions. Once the lacquer surface has cured completely, use a gray Scotch-Brite pad to scuff it lightly. Remove scuffing residue before applying a marine spar varnish. For a clear, UV-resistant, spar varnish coating over lacquer, use TotalBoat Lust varnish.
